West Virginia has a deep respect for military service—but for too many veterans, the fight doesn’t end when the uniform comes off. Today, 1 in 5 military and veteran families struggle with food insecurity, facing difficult choices no one who served our country should have to make.
Mountaineer Food Bank believes that those who defended our freedom deserve dignity, support, and access to nutritious food.
The Veterans Table Program
The Veterans Table Program was created to ensure veterans never have to fight hunger alone. Each month, Mountaineer Food Bank provides 1,400 food boxes to veterans across West Virginia.
There are no income requirements and no questions asked—just food, respect, and gratitude.
Because caring for veterans isn’t charity. It’s our responsibility.

Supporting Homebound Veterans
Through a partnership with Disabled American Veterans (DAV), more than 300 food boxes are delivered directly to homebound veterans each month. Dedicated DAV volunteer drivers help ensure food reaches veterans who are unable to travel to distribution sites.
Pets of Vets
For many veterans, pets provide essential emotional and physical support. Through the Pets of Vets program, Mountaineer Food Bank provides pet food to help veterans care for their trusted companions—because no veteran should have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their pet.
