Mountaineer Food Bank’s BackPack Program, provides snacks and meals for kids who do not have enough food to eat on the weekends. For some children there is not enough food or not the proper nutritional foods, at home for adequate nutrition.
Nutrition deficiencies can lead to serious health problems; including, impaired cognitive development, growth failures, physical weakness, anemia and stunted growth. Good nutrition makes children better prepared for school. Kids become healthier, better focused and alert with better attendance rates and more eager to learn.
